PORTOLES COMERAS, Sergi 简介
Field of Research: Biotechnology (Plant Molecular Genetics)
Sergi joined the CRAG institute (former IBMB-CSIC, later Consortium CSIC-IRTA) in January 2003 under a collaboration program between the University of Barcelona and CSIC, supervised by Doctor Jaime Maritínez García. The project was aimed at studying light signalling in plants. The work performed until June 2004,contributed to a publication in EMBO journal. In July 2004 Sergi finished the ‘Licenciatura en Biologia’equivalent to the Master Degree in Biology and joined the Doctor Paloma Más Martinez laboratory, also in the CRAG institute, to carry out the PhD thesis.
The PhD thesis was focused on the study of plant circadian clock progression. In September 2005 Sergi was awarded with the FPI fellowship from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology. So far, his work contributed to two publications in Plant Journal and a third article is currently under the second step of revision in Cell journal. Currently, Sergi is writing the manuscript for PhD defence.
Sergi is going to join the Zhang Da-Peng laboratory in Tsinghua University of Beijing for 18 months under the support of EU Science and Technology Fellowship, in order to investigate drought responses in plants.
